N9015U 'Got Rocks' Airborne again

Hey all,

My name is Robin and Jesse had listed my 'Got Rocks' FunCub conversion in the 'Featured Cub's section' even though she had crashed the day afer her remaiden.  Well I'm posting to share that she has been rebuilt and is airborne once again! She recieved a Turnigy D3536/8 1000KV Motor (Firewall mounted), Turnigy Plush 60A ESC, and a 5-7.5A (8~42v) HV UBEC during the rebuild as well as a set of e-flite J-3 Cub 15e struts and markings from Callie Graphics.  I built a couple of camera mounts and tested them out last Sunday (she remaidened the Sunday before) and she's flying just as good as she ever did!

Great looking FC Robin!     Where did you get the cowl you're using on her?

Actually i made the fiberglass cowl over a pink foam plug that I made and applied the fiberglass with thinned epoxy.  The most difficult part of the process is sanding the plug to shape, compared to that the fiberglass work is a breeze!  I went into detail on making one on my blog on RC Groups (starts on top of page 3)  I'm currently working on a second FunCub that I'll be making a similar cowl for and if it comes out any better I may try to pull a mold from it.

Your work looks great! I wish I had time to do that kind of modeling. Right now I stay busy working and trying with the help of my wife raise 2
boys properly. Unfortunately my boys haven't caught the modeling bug like I did when I was young, but I haven't given up on them. Maybe one day. I've accumulated plenty of models over my 46 years of life. Too many electronic gadgets these days in my opinion.

Thanks again! When she was built I was working full time and commuting four hours a day (I spent quite a few late nights getting her done! I agree, my two daughters are all grown now but I have two grand son's (they're both still a little young to fly) the one that lives close is a video game addict and the one across the country is the the one shows some interest in grandpa's airplanes (go figure), I love them both and hope to share this great hobby with both of them when the time comes.
